Raised in the Cathak Family, trained with a quarterstaff his whole life until he failed to exalt as a dragonblooded. He wanted to enlighten his essence and in his pursuit of enlightened essence he taught himself lore and occult. He exalted when he broke into a secret storage space trying to get a book of sorcery. He got caught by two dragonblooded guards and escaped while grabbing an orichalcum wreckstaff and a lammelar. There was a big warstrider and he still regrets the fact that he couldn't take it with him. He wandered around robbing imperial tax collectors until he was asked to join a prophecy of a girl in a circus.

Kathan is a typical patrician, you would expect him to be a dragonblooded. He was bald for a long time, disguising himself as a monk, but has long hair now.

Kathan is not always very nice, he isn't an asshole, but takes a lot of decisions on his own. He is very smart but doesn't always show it, sometimes because he's bored, sometimes his mind is somewhere else. Until recently he was asking himself why he was exalted as a zenith, because his skills were stealth and combat. But during a long training session with a Solar priestess he saw what the unconquered sun had in mind with him when he exalted Kathan.
