Born into one of the biggest Yakuza families of Japan, Genshu was destined to take over the business from his father at one point. At the age of six, it became clear that he had the dragon's blood inside him so from that day on he was trained by one of the Family's Ryuujin ikn the water dragon style and Aikido. Being a genius martial artist, strong, charming, ambitious and utterly ruthless, Genshu quickly made it through the ranks. When his father 'suddenly' passed away, Genshu was the youngest Yakuza boss at the age of 21. By that time, most of the other Yakuza families were so afraid of him, that they accepted his de facto leaderhip over the entire Yakuza as the head of its largest family.
His charm and power didn't go unnoticed with the girls either as they were all fawning over him like he was some kind of god. The girl he wanted, Yoshie Ookada, was not at all interested in him though. This he solved by forcing her through a pre-arranged marriage by blackmailing her father, one of the leaders of one of the smaller Yakuza families. Not long after, they married.
What happened next came to a shock to all. Genshu wanted so desperately for Yoshie to love him, that he changed. He became less aggressive, less of an asshole. He even changed so much that Yoshie started to fall in love with him as well, eventually giving him twins. A boy and a girl.
Of course, this did not go unnoticed with the other houses and some of them started to question Genshu's fitness to rule the Yakuza and started to plot against him. Genshu realized he needed to strike first so he started to make plans of his own. Of course, Yoshie was not allowed to find out any of this, so he told her he was going on a business trip for the next couple of weeks. In the end he managed to find out that five of the least loyal Yakuza family members were going to be on a single airplane together, heading to Haokkaido form Tokyo. Genshu decided to use this to his advantage and in one final act of utter ruthlessness decided to bomb the entire plane.
However, what he did not know was thay Yoshie had decided that since her husband was gone, she was going take her children and visit her aunt.. in Hokkaido. The blast from the explosion on the airplane left many people unidentifiable or outright missing. Among the missing people were Yoshie and her children and all five Yakuza family leaders. The official research concluded it had been a short-circuit in one of the engines.
As soon as Genshu realized what he had done, he flipped out. For the next two weeks he had locked himself in his room, refusing to eat, drink or speak. When servants finally broke the door open, there was no one there… Genshu had left, unable to deal with the consequences for his actions.
At first he could only find temporary relief in alcohol abuse, but after a few months he found out that through all his misery, his aikido had started to change into a much less predictable style as he taught some punks who wanted to had decided that assaulting a beggar was a fun thing to do (Boy they chose the wrong beggar.). Somehow this drunken fighting gave him just as much serenity as the alcohol but without the hangover so Genshu decided to give himself up to Zui Quan.
After that, he became a traveling martial artist, permanently leaving all his worldly possessions and influence behind. He could only find peace in his martial arts, so he only focused on that, hoping that eventually it could ease the pain. Strengthening his bond with the water dragon changed him even further into the man he is now, reaching peace though meditation, martial arts and good deeds slowly but surely.
However, there are still plenty of Yakuza who want to get back to him and there are also the Ryuujin who suddenly lost all contact with one of their most promising members and desperately want him to return.
Genshu is a Japanese man in his mid-thirties. He is extremely athletic but has very little bulk so his strength cannot be seen through his loose fitting clothes. Genshu has long, wild, free flowing black hair and a bit of a shabby beard, as if he doesn't really care about his appearance (which he indeed doesn't). His brown eyes look quite strongly into the world though, a sign that he is much more than he appears to be. He wears loose fitting clothing, a hakama with a longsleeve shirt that is a bit too big for him and a set of run-down sneakers. The clothes hide a body filled with tattoos, a turtle shield adorned with a ying-yang sign fills his entire back and his arms and legs are filled with whirling blue dragon tattoos, the ones he uses for his water binding.
Atone for the past mistakes he made. Find peace through martial arts. (goals are subject to change when plot hooks are used.)
